I’ve been fortunate in the last few weeks to contribute content to a couple of other websites and wanted to share.
First, an article for the folks over at Baseball Prospectus, this one on the neuroanatomy involved in pitch recognition and hitting — here, I discussed a pretty awesome paper out of Columbia University that used some of the neuroimaging techniques, in particular functional MRI, I used back in my graduate school days and applied them to answering the question ‘what brain regions are most active in hitting’?. I am hoping to do some more work in this arena as well as neurophysiology and hopefully, it passes muster for further articles over at BP. If you haven’t done so already, make BP a part of your daily baseball scribblin’ consumption — some great stuff over there and on many occasions, stuff ahead of its time.
The second is a more consistent gig, which I am pretty stoked about. I will have a weekly Thursday post over at Beyond the Box Score, discussing all thing sabermetrics or just baseball research. My (at the moment) limited article archive can be found here and please bookmark BtB and make it a part of your everyday baseball reading as well. There are some fantastic writers over there, so enjoy them before they head off to Fangraphs greener pastures*. While most of my articles as of now are pitching related (huge shock, I know), I look to delve more into the hitting and fielding aspects of the game in coming articles. Maybe.
I will still post here at HDIB?, although it will probably be more quick hitter HOT SPROTZ TAEKS that I can fit in while writing for BtB as well as Camden Depot and MLB Injury News. I have been a crappy, MIA** contributor to those two outlets as of late, but I will reprimand that immediately and will have content for those outlets in the coming days and weeks, so be on the lookout for those as well.
…and last, if you’re on the Book of Faces, don’t hesitate to like this blog’s page, How Do I Baseball?.
As always, thank you for your readership.

*just a joke, but sometimes guys do get poached from Btb for positions that prevent them from writing, so yeah, take advantage while you can. And please read Fangraphs as well.
